Steve Gardner

Steve is a violinist and multi-instrumentalist who has been
teaching, performing, and recording in the San Francisco Bay Area for 15 years.

TEACHING

Steve recently taught a class on playing in a band at Roots Music Marin, and received this testimonial: Roots Music Marin changed my life! They put me together with a small group of like-minded musicians for the Americana Music Ensemble class just to learn how to play in a group, and now we're a legit band! Steve is a very encouraging instructor who guided us along our musical journey. The whole experience was really rewarding, and now my musical dreams have been fulfilled. - Evan Kishineff - Guitarist - Minus Mary

PERFORMANCE

Steve is a founder and member of the Irish folk punk band Culann's Hounds from 1999 to present, and was a founder and member of the Gypsy rock band Beso Negro from 2009 to 2015. He has Toured America and Europe many times with his two bands and with country diva Danni Leigh. He has recorded for Grammy Award winner Bobby Ozuna, Goapele, Jake One, Freeway and a plethora of other projects. Paul Libratore of the Marin Independant Journal says "Gardner's violin recalls the tasteful style of the Hot Club's great Stephane Grappelli." Sean Keene of San Francisco's Irish Herald says "Steve Gardner is a giant on the fiddle."

EDUCATION

Steve studied viola performance at San Francisco State University under Paul Yarbrough, and at The Aaron Copeland School of Music in New York City under Danny Phillips.
